Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into fame in 1994, after she debuted her first album Age Ain't nothing but a number. The album, released when she only had fifteen years old was certified Gold. This collaboration, heavily influenced R. Kelly's music, put her in the limelight. In 1996, Jermaine and Timbaland came out with Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million. It featured If Your Girls Only Knew the most-sold single. After the release of this work Aaliyah received international recognition as an R&B singer. She was a part of the romantic action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial arts legend Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die, spotted her at an award ceremony. In 2002 she had the opportunity to play the horror film Queen of the Damned which was an adaptation of The Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels saw her play Zee following her appearance on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions that same year. In 2001, 1999, 2002, and 2003 she was nominated for four Grammy Awards. She is from Indian heritage and was born Connecticut. Mann is the abbreviation for her husband's first name Mankad. The actress uses Aarti Man as well as Aarti Mahumdar as her official name. Though her first career was filled with minor movie and TV roles, she gained more notoriety in the late 2000s. In addition to The Big Bang Theory her most notable work includes Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) as well as Grey's Anatomy (2017). Her commercials have featured prominent brands like Volvo. She is currently working on her acting career in Los Angeles, where she lives with her daughter and husband.
